Indication

Amylenum nitrosum, commonly known as Amyl Nitrite, is a powerful vasoactive medicine prepared from Nitrite of Amyl (C₅H₁₁NO₂) by dilution in alcohol. It is useful in managing rapid and widespread dilation of arterioles and capillaries, leading to flushing, heat, and pulsations—particularly in the head and chest. It is especially valuable in addressing climacteric complaints, such as flushes of heat, palpitations, and sudden sweats, as well as in acute cardiovascular or neurological episodes, including epileptic convulsions, hiccough, and seasickness. Amylenum nitrosum acts quickly, offering rapid relief from vascular and nervous congestion, and is marked by symptoms of throbbing, surging, constriction, and restlessness.
